SOS 2008

Land and Life
Formerly "Humans, Soils, and Environmental Impact"
An introduction to environmental soil science for non-majors
3 Credits

SOS2008 is offered both Summer B and Fall Semesters

In SOS 2008, we ask (and attempt to answer!) questions such as:

  • What are all those bacteria doing in soil (over a billion in a teaspoon full)?
  • How did a lack of appreciation of soils contribute to the expansion and collapse of the Roman Empire?
  • How do environmental problems in China affect the rest of the world (including the US)?
  • How do these questions relate to environmental quality in present-day USA and Florida?
  • .....and many, many more!

SOS2008 is a GenEd biology course
